Dance through life with this free- form of exercise

Looking for a cardio workout that engages both mind and body with a side order of consciousness? The Nia Technique may be just the ticket. In each hour-long Nia class, enthusiasts experience the creativity of dance, the precision of yoga and the power of martial arts, as they move to music that rocks the body and soothes the soul.

Nia blends the energy forms of Tai chi, aikido, tae kwon do, Duncan dance, jazz, modern dance and yoga into a holistic, self-healing experience. The underlying principle of it all is finding joy and pleasure in movement.

A Nia class “celebration” is an active, sweaty, cardiovascular workout currently practiced in 39 countries. Students ages 16 to 81 dance enthusiastically to music that ranges from inspirational to funky and primal, accented by kicks, blocks, punches and jazzy showmanship. Each person moves at their desired level of intensity, adapting the 52 moves of the form to their body potential. Each hour-long session ends in freeform stretching and relaxation and an invitation that students apply the movements to their daily lives.

“Nia engages your creativity, “When you are moving, your brain gets out of the way and your body dances freely. There is " no thinking" in Nia. Movements are copied and absorbed directly into the body. (bypassing the thinking brain). If you think Nia is something you would like to experience, feel free to contact me and reserve your space in the Nia class.

Nia Workshop

Well sitting back and relaxing enjoying some family time I reflect on this morning's workshop which despite some technical hiccups went relatively well. A group of women enjoying moving, being themselves with no restrictions, much laughter shared and having my friends rise to the occasion when I needed them. All in all it was a good morning. After someone so pointedly said to me at the workshop these hiccups happen and THEY DO is that not life? Please feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts ...... Much blessing to everyone ... Time out with the family

After a busy couple of days with work and all the planning and excitement of the New to Nia workshop I took some time out with the family and went to see the animated movie called UP.
(Yes, I really have to recall when last I've seen an adult movie) It was delightful, and the children enjoyed the movie too. It was great just having some quality time with my husband and children..
Let me know your thoughts and comments.....

Joy amongst my Sweet Potatoes

With work commitments and a son who was not feeling well found myself in the Doctor's practice picking up the NEXT magazine whilst waiting to be seen. I found myself enjoying the articles loving the honesty and found the magazine refreshing. The receptionist must have seen my obvious enjoyment as she informed me I could take the magazine home. Whilst prepping for dinner I found myself quickly stealing a read from the magazine and found not only was my eyes devouring the well written articles but my spirit was enjoying this magazine as well. I thank NEXT for celebrating us women...... and now back to dinner and TIMES TABLES......

Finding Joy whilst peeling my Sweet Potatoes

Today being a busy day with work commitments and caring for my son who is not feeling well found myself in the situation whilst waiting at the Doctor's practice opening up the NEXT magazine and enjoying reading the articles. I felt this was delicious not only to my eyes but good for my soul. The receptionist must have seen how much I enjoyed reading this magazine as she was kind enough to say TAKE IT HOME. Whilst prepping for dinner was drawn to reading the articles again. What I enjoyed about the magazine was the honesty and freshness to life... where we live in a world where women are expected to always BE FINE. A Big Salute to NEXT for celebrating us women....
And now back to dinner and doing TIMES TABLES with my daughter....

Realising Happiness and Friendship

Had a really relaxing afternoon yesterday with some girlfriends sitting on my deck with a glass of wine looking at our children happily exploring and enjoying the garden and what finds it had to offer. Realising happiness is in simplicity and company of good friends. Really looking forward to many more of those lazy afternoons with my girlfriends....

Nia will MOVE you, let ME show YOU how ...

Nia is a fitness art that builds strength, agility, flexibility and grace in the body and mind, bringing about transformation on many levels beyond the physical. By following the Body’s Way, people of all ages, fitness levels and exercise backgrounds learn to explore their own bodies and the ways they move.
Nia blends martial arts, healing arts, dance arts and self-healing to create a high-powered, synergistic workout that will not only keep you in fantastic shape, but will also help you to rediscover the joy of movement and being at home in your body.
It is a workout that is fun, yet efficient, providing cardiovascular conditioning while inducing the feel-good sensations of dance. Nia is for anybody who needs to move and it can be used to compliment any other sport or fitness programme.
